About Seki Kanetsugu Heptagon - Seki Kanetsugu is a knife maker in Seki, whose ancestor was a famous swordsmith Kanetsugu (1336-1392). The company itself was founded in 1918 and celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2018. Although this is considered to be a machine-forged knife, it is perhaps at the highest level. The blade is expertly crafted from VG10 stainless steel, which offers an excellent balance of sharpness and toughness. The stunning heptagon-shaped handle is made with pakka wood for its strength, and feels excellent in the hand.
About the Shape - Inspired by the profile of a traditional European chef knife, Gyutos are a multi-purpose knife with a slight meat cutting bias. “Gyuto” translates to “cow sword.” If you want one knife to do it all, This is it. Starting at 180mm, Gyutos can reach the ridiculously long (and awesome) 370mm. For the at-home or professional cook, we recommend a Gyuto which measures between 210mm and 270mm long.

"First knife and I love it - daily driver"
"Very good knife."
"Knife is sharp and well-balanced. Apparently the heptagonal grip is a "love it or hate it" thing, which makes me wonder how many home cooks are using a pinch grip. . . At any rate, performance, ergonomics, and aesthetics are absolutely unbeatable at this price point. Aggressively recommended for anyone looking for a Japanese style knife with these approximate dimensions."
"Quality is good, very sharp out of the box. Tool / handle fit well in hand, Would buy again."
"This knife came extremely sharp and it cuts amazing. The knife feels great in the hand and it’s a blast to use. I love it!"
"The knife itself was amazing. Exactly what I was looking for and the perfect gift. The service provided was also top notch! I look forward to building out my knife collection soon!"
"Perfect blade, lot of compliments on the looks from everyone, nice wood handle."
"The Japanese knife I bought here is such great quality and I’m beyond happy with my purchase! I would recommend buying your knives here. They are knowledgeable and know a lot about each knife. It makes for a overall great shopping experience!"
"This is my first full Japanese knife and it is just a joy to cut with. So light and slides thru most anything. Beautiful workmanship on the blade as well. And the price is incredible. Great entry level knife and just a great knife in general, have to get the rest of the series now!"
"My friend gave me a gift card to pick the knife of my choosing and I decided on this one. It was excellent voice so far and would highly recommend it"
